Hot Coffee, Sweet Success

A couple of months ago I went out of town for a weekend getaway to Hot Springs National Park. The first morning we were there, we headed over to a popular breakfast spot and were greeted with a 20-30 minute wait to be seated. It was a little cold outside that morning, so the restaurant had made arrangements with the shop next door to set up some free coffee and encouraged their patrons to do some shopping while they waited to be seated.

I was happy to see the coffee so I headed over and tried to get some. Much to my disappointment, when I lifted the handle on the spout nothing came out. I decided to tell one of the store workers the coffee was empty, so I stood behind several other customers in a line that didn't appear to be moving.

After several minutes, I gave up and decided I would try the coffee one more time. I lifted the handle and nothing came out, just as I suspected. However, this time I tried moving the handle down and hot coffee filled my cup, and I felt thankful I didn't make a fool of myself for complaining about the coffee being empty.

So, what the heck do this have to do with internet marketing success?

Well, after I thought about what I had done, it dawned on me that many times we are sure we know what we are supposed to be doing to succeed, and yet sometimes we don't do the little things that will ensure our success.

The reason I wasn't able to get any coffee the first time wasn't because there was no coffee available, it was because I didn't take the time to make sure that I was doing things properly.

Growing a successful business on the Internet is no different. There is no shortage of success available to you, you just have to focus on doing the right things to get it, and that is exactly what Magnetic Sponsoring provides us with: a guide to get your business started properly.

The Attraction of "Attraction Marketing"

As a veteran of "old school" network marketing techniques, I have one word for everyone-HALLELUJAH! My reason for rejoicing stems from my discovery of what is known as "Attraction Marketing".

My experience with old school business-building techniques and those of attraction marketing has caused me to label these two types as "Attraction Marketing" and "Distraction Marketing". Anyone who has ever been shunned from activities with their family members and friends has obviously used Distraction Marketing techniques. Thanks to Attraction Marketing, the days of chasing disinterested prospects and cold calling are over...at least for me.

An old school ,"Distraction Marketing", sales process typically goes something like this: You introduce your family members or friends to your latest business with a great deal of enthusiasm, which is likely to be greeted with a great deal of resistance about nine out of ten times.

That is the ratio that you can expect when using old school network marketing techniques. One out of ten people you talk to will be interested in joining your business, maybe two out of ten, if you are really good. This ratio leaves you with eight or nine family members and friends who may want to avoid you like the plague for the next month because they don't want to feel pressured into joining your business, in other words they don't want to be "distracted" from their activities by your sales pitch.

Attraction Marketing Works On or Offline

Attraction Marketing offers a much different process and outcome. This type of marketing uses on and off-line strategies to build a constant stream of interested prospects. To implement this type of marketing plan, a network marketer begins by offering valuable information to their prospects, which lays a foundation to establish an identity as a leader.

By making themselves an indispensable source of information or value, it is possible to literally have people calling them with credit card in hand, ready to join their business. How can this be? With attraction marketing, you do not waste your time bothering uninterested prospects.

By implementing a system that allows your prospects to get to know and trust you, review your information, then contact you when they are ready, you are no longer wasting your valuable time dealing with people who have no desire to join your business. Instead, the people you talk to are well informed and ready to move forward with your opportunity.

Attraction Marketing - The Numbers Game Without The Hassle

Proponents of old school network marketing techniques often cite the fact that network marketing is a numbers game. Using the Internet to market yourself, enables you to sort through far more people than you could ever talk to personally, and with the right system, you can develop relationships with these people and build a duplicable business that will allow you to live the lifestyle of your dreams.

Many old school network marketers view the Internet with skepticism. But like it or not, the Internet is going to be a huge part the future of network marketing. The Internet allows prospective business builders the opportunity to research every detail of virtually any company in the world, with just the click of a button.

This paradigm shift has created an opportunity and a necessity for savvy marketers to differentiate themselves from the masses, while allowing them to expose their businesses to a much larger audience than ever before. The Internet has created an avenue for network marketers to build their own "brand", rather than the company they represent, and in the process shift themselves from the hunter to the hunted.

Attraction Marketing & Personal Branding

If you perform a Google search for anything related to network marketing these days, you will notice the growing number of advertisements and links that do not promote a standard affiliate website, but instead promote a website that is building an individual leader's "brand" or some sort of internet marketing system. Websites like these substantially increase the likelihood that prospects will join the individual's business.

On the other hand, a person who simply attempts to market their company using the standard affiliate page will likely have a more difficult time converting prospects. These pages do very little to help introduce the business to their internet prospect in a manner that establishes trust and builds rapport.

A website that allows a leader's personality to shine through to a visitor, assists the prospect in obtaining valuable information and builds the leader's credibility. This type of website is a far more effective means of developing a relationship than a standard company affiliate website.

If you are ready to stop chasing family members and friends, and put away the cold-call lists, the following tips will help you get started on your Attraction Marketing campaign:

1. Familiarize yourself with the marketing tools available on the Internet to learn more about how to promote your business effectively.

2. Create a blog that offers visitors valuable information about how to help them build a business, whether they join your business or not.

3. Visit web forums about topics that are related to your opportunity, and offer the members of the forum valuable information. These forums allow you to include a website in your signature file, which will drive traffic to your website when people read your posts.

4. Use advertising, e-mail messages and articles to help promote your website and build your brand as a network marketing leader.

5. Remember the importance of providing valuable information to your prospects, the more helpful your information, the more likely you are to attract people to your business.

Attraction marketing can be used as a great way to help you build your business and certainly makes it a lot more fun.

"Why?" vs. "How?"

Rich Hazlett

One of the biggest mistakes people often make is focusing too much attention on "How" they will succeed, instead of figuring out "Why" they must succeed. If you want to be successful, you need to give some serious thought to your "Why". Identifying exactly why you must succeed will serve as the driving force behind your accomplishments, and will be the impetus to propel you forward when your initial excitement about your goals begins to fade. It's easy for people to get hung up on "How" they will succeed, but "Why?" is actually a much more powerful question. Don't believe me?

Imagine someone threatened to kill you if you didn't earn $5,000 in the next month. The most important question you would need to ask yourself in this situation would be: "Why do I need to earn $5,000?" (hopefully, it would be: "so I can live") If your life depended on it, I'd be willing to bet the farm that the "How?" would figure itself out. The moral of the story: If your "Why" is strong enough, the "How" will take care of itself. You will find a way to succeed. It's kind of like the saying,"When the student is ready, the teacher will appear."

You need to take a little time to do some serious thinking about your "Why". If you aren't achieving the success you want in life, it's not because you aren't capable of success, it's just that you haven't decided why you must succeed. Once you've figured out your "Why", you're well on your way to achieving the success you desire.

As a sponsor in a network marketing business, it is important for you to have a plan for guiding your team away from the "How?" mentality. If someone on your team asks, "How do I become successful?" The best answer you can give is, "Why do you have to be successful?"
If you can communicate the importance of first asking "Why?" instead of "How?" to your team, you will have a group of individuals who are working their business with their own strong purpose in mind. A team with that mentality in network marketing is a powerful vehicle that will drive you to success.

Here are some steps to help you build a strong "Why":

First, spend about an hour just thinking about your goals and dreams. Imagine your dream lifestyle in every area of your life (emotional, physical, spiritual, family, business, etc.).

Next, spend about twenty minutes writing down everything you want for yourself with no limitations. Write down what you want to have, where you want to live, where you want to travel, what kind of car you want to drive, the types of relationships you want, etc. Have fun and don't worry about how you will accomplish these things right now. Remember, the point of this exercise is to build your "Why".

Then, tap into the creative side of your brain by building a visualization board that represents your "dream life" in pictures. Cut out pictures from magazines, brochures, and newspapers and post them on a board in a place where you can see your "dream life" several times a day.

You need to monitor the questions you ask yourself on daily basis. Make sure that you remember the power of knowing "Why" you want success. Don't fall back into the trap of worrying about "How" you will succeed. Remind yourself that it is the "Why", that will be the driving force behind your success.

To your success,

Rich Hazlett

Get Off To A Fast Start

Copyright © Rich Hazlett

After attending many events and listening to hours of training by my mentor, Denson Taylor, one of the things that he says consistently sticks out in mind,"It's the start that stops most people in this business."

The following information will help to ensure that you don't let your start stop you:

1. Don't suffer from analysis paralysis. In the beginning, spend a small amount of time learning the basics of your business, and the majority of your time doing business building activities. It's kind of like a TV-you don't have to know exactly how it works in order to enjoy it.

2. Take massive action in the beginning. Think of your business like a boulder you are pushing up a hill. At first your hard work may not seem like it is paying any dividends. Eventually, after you go over the top of the hill, that boulder will become a runaway object that you couldn't stop even if you wanted to.

3. Take personal responsibility for your actions. Remember, your opportunity is a business. You are the boss. Don't let yourself get into the habit of putting off your necessary business building activities because you are waiting on someone else to take action. A lot of people build a long "blame list" for why they aren't achieving the success they want. Don't fall prey to this mentality. You don't have to wait for your company to change their policy or your sponsor to return your call to take action. Your list should only include one name-you.

4. When you have the first taste of success, step on the gas pedal and GO! In sales, the best time to make a sales call is immediately after you have made a sale. The same principle is true in network marketing. The best time to talk to someone about your business is immediately after you have had a taste of success. Your genuine enthusiasm and excitement will be obvious to your prospect.

5. Have fun building your business! Network Marketing is all about creating a dream lifestyle for you and your family. Enjoy each step along the way. Remember, building your business is like a marathon, not a sprint.
